From the Andes to the gateway of the Amazon, crossing the cloud forest.
- The experience begins in Cusco with the pickup from your hotel to cross the Andean landscapes towards the Amazon.
- Our first stop is the Ninamarca chullpas, an ancient pre-Inca archaeological site surrounded by mountains and Andean valleys. We then continue to Paucartambo, a picturesque colonial village known for its cultural traditions.
- From Paucartambo we climb to the Acjanaco Pass (4,000 m) before starting the impressive descent into the cloud forest of Manu National Park. As we lose altitude, the landscape changes from the Andes to a humid, lush forest.
- In the San Pedro area we stop to explore the forest and visit an observation platform, with the chance to spot the cock-of-the-rock, Peru's national bird. Along the way we can also admire orchids, bromeliads, ferns and other species typical of this ecosystem.
- We arrive at Bambú Lodge, in a tropical setting at about 700 m above sea level. After settling in there is time to rest and enjoy dinner. At the end of the day, the guide explains the following day's activities.

- After breakfast at the lodge we continue towards the lowland rainforest. On the way we visit a Hummingbird Garden, where we discover some species endemic to the area.
- We reach Atalaya, the point where the road gives way to the river. We board a boat to sail along the Alto Madre de Dios River, enjoying the Amazonian landscapes and the shift to the tropical climate.
- Our destination is Soga de Oro Lodge, surrounded by nature and quiet.
- In the afternoon we visit Machuwasi Lake and explore its calm waters aboard a traditional wooden raft, with excellent opportunities to see birds, monkeys, insects and other wildlife.
- Back at the lodge there is time to rest or take part in an extra exploration activity, depending on the day's conditions. In the evening, those who wish can join an optional night walk to discover the sounds and nocturnal inhabitants of the forest.
Soga de Oro Lodge – Parrot Clay Lick – Atalaya – Cloud Forest – Cusco

- The last day starts early with a boat trip of about 25 minutes to a parrot clay lick, a natural site frequented by parrots, parakeets and other birds typical of the region. Sightings depend on the weather and on the birds' natural behaviour.
- We return to the lodge to collect our luggage and sail back to Atalaya, where we board our private transport to begin the road journey to Cusco.
- The return trip takes us through the cloud forest, with one last chance to stop, explore the surroundings and observe the biodiversity of this unique ecosystem, whenever conditions and time allow.
- We continue through Andean landscapes and arrive in Cusco at around 6:00 p.m., completing an experience that connects the Andes with the Peruvian Amazon in just a few days.

What temperatures will I find during the trip?

Do I need warm clothing?
Yes. Although most of the trip takes place in a warm climate, on the first day we cross higher areas and the Acjanaco Pass reaches about 4,000 m above sea level. We recommend bringing a warm layer for that part of the journey.
What can I see in the cloud forest?
It is an ecosystem of great biodiversity. During the stops you may see different species of birds, as well as orchids, bromeliads, ferns and other plants typical of this ecosystem.
Is it possible to see the cock-of-the-rock?
Yes. In the San Pedro area we visit an observation platform where you can look for the cock-of-the-rock, Peru's national bird. As this is wildlife, sightings are not guaranteed and depend on natural conditions and the birds' behaviour.
Which animals can I see during the tour?
Depending on the day's conditions, you may see cocks-of-the-rock, hummingbirds, parrots, parakeets, monkeys, various bird species, insects and other rainforest animals. Wildlife watching is entirely natural, so sightings cannot be guaranteed.
What is the visit to the parrot clay lick like?
It takes place very early on the third day. We sail for about 25 minutes by boat to a clay lick frequented by green parrots, parakeets and other birds. The number of birds seen depends on the weather and on their natural behaviour.
Is the night walk included?
The night walk is optional and subject to weather and safety conditions. It is a chance to discover the sounds and activity of different species at night.
Do I need to bring binoculars?
They are not compulsory, but they are highly recommended for watching birds, monkeys and other animals at a distance. You can also request binocular rental as an add-on.
What kind of footwear do I need?
Comfortable footwear with good grip for the walks and exploration stops. Rubber boots for activities in wet areas of the rainforest are included in the programme.
What is the accommodation like?
The programme includes 2 nights in nature lodges set in Amazonian surroundings: Bambú Lodge on the first night and Soga de Oro Lodge on the second. They are simple lodges, ideal for enjoying an experience close to the forest.
