A gradual climb along the high Andean road, among vicuñas, wetlands and volcanoes, to the heart of the Colca Valley.
- The adventure begins with the pick-up from your hotel in Arequipa between 7:30 and 8:00 a.m. On the way to Chivay we make several stops to admire the impressive Andean landscapes, on a journey of approximately 5 to 6 hours including the scheduled visits.
- The first stop is Pampa Cañahuas (3,800 m / 12,467 ft), within the Salinas y Aguada Blanca National Reserve, where we observe vicuñas in their natural habitat.
- We continue to Patahuasi (4,000 m / 13,123 ft), where we taste the traditional coca tea, ideal for helping you acclimatise to the altitude.
- We visit the Toccra wetlands (4,300 m / 14,107 ft), home to alpacas, llamas and a variety of Andean birds, and continue to the Volcanoes Viewpoint (4,910 m / 16,109 ft), from where we admire the mountain range and the Ampato, Sabancaya and Hualca Hualca peaks.

Chivay – Cruz del Cóndor – Colca Valley viewpoints – Arequipa
The flight of the condor at sunrise, the colonial villages of the valley and the return to Arequipa.
- The day starts very early. After breakfast at the hotel, between 6:00 and 6:30 a.m. we set off for the famous Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint (3,287 m / 10,784 ft), considered the best observation point in the Colca Canyon.
- We stay there for approximately 1 hour to watch the majestic flight of the Andean condor in its natural habitat, while admiring the immensity of the canyon and the sunrise among the mountains, with time for photographs and to explore the area.
- We continue to several viewpoints of the Colca Valley, from where we see impressive pre-Inca and Inca terraces, and we visit the traditional villages of Yanque and Maca, with their historic colonial churches and their living culture. In some villages you can taste typical local drinks (optional).
- Around midday we stop for lunch (lunch not included) before beginning the return journey.
- We set off back to Arequipa, enjoying the Andean landscapes along the way, and arrive at the Plaza de Armas between 5:00 and 5:30 p.m., bringing this 2 day experience in the Colca Canyon to an end.
